It involves learning a lot of complex systems and additionally, putting up with jerks. This works both ways of course, people who are literally needing a bit of help, versus those who do it for easy money. New players are oft told to play the game, and rightfully so... the annoying players tends to continue spamming and whining generally being a jerk. Imagine if you were the new guy and asked for help and someone started spouting off like that. Not impressive. On the other hand, when your dealing with an isk spamming jerk, I can relate..... however, that ignore button is there for a reason, to save you from a month long ban because you obviously can't handle dealing with annoying people. At least you'll never get stuck as your corp's diplomat. Wish I could say the same at times....

All the same, EVE is fun.. your best option as a new player is getting the heck out of your new player corp as soon as possible.

As for selective enforcement... it isn't selective. Its called, someone is offended and reports you, so they do something, if no one is offended they never hear about it. Its that simple, being EVE is a worldwide game, you've got all kinds of languages not just English to moderate and that is a real difficult task period.

<pubDateParsed>2008-10-07T23:17:27</pubDateParsed>
makkenhoff on So I got banned from Eve, again.

Isk beggers

What are those?

<pubDateParsed>2008-10-07T23:17:27</pubDateParsed>
LedZerggelin on So I got banned from Eve, again.

I don't know why they banned you. The people online. Experienced people just sit and wait for noobs to leave secure space, and then blast them to pieces. People also know the boundaries or what "exploits" are and what aren't, and they tread the line very carefully. But they do, and they make life miserable for many players.

0.0 is really different of low-sec or empire. There are strategic rules, like how you prepare your ship, if you have to be alone or not (alone = scoutship (cheap fregate) or coverops, no matter what), if you want to 1v1 and 1v1 vs what kind of ship, etc. It's hardcore-eve, there :/ Just prepare yourself for this and it would be funnier than low-sec or empire. Don't go in 0.0 just to mine alone, for exemple. You have to prepare your logistics, military escorts AND (most important) diplomatic/political problems with the locals.

2. The in-game society. Players who have power will stay on top. People who dont will stay at the bottom, and get their faces rubbed in the dirt by the powerful players. The corporations are also rather stupid. When you join, the corporation leader has total control over you. I don't understand why the corporations are like this. I also don't understand why EVE has to be like real life, but in space. Why can't the players just have fun and shoot stuff, rather than having to play the virtual stock market?

I was part of RSF until last week (Tau Ceti federation) and we made ourselves what we are now. Against BoB, which were the most powerfull military opponent in the game : you are simply not true !

3. CCP Games itself. Basically, they are a bunch of corrupt bastards who make life happy and miserable to whoever they damn well please. They affect the balance of power unfairly. For example, one of the CCP guys gave important blueprints of a whole new ship design to one corporation to help them stay in power. Well, another player revealed what that dev had done to the whole EVE universe, and CCP banned that player, not the dev, to cover it up. Also, the rules they make are really stupid. You can blow up what players have worked months for, but you can't call them names? Wow.....If EVE would fix these problems, then EVE would be better. A lot better.Etrius

CCP have a normal and direct dialogue with their players. This problem is more or less 2 years old. The people online. Experienced people just sit and wait for noobs to leave secure space, and then blast them to pieces. People also know the boundaries or what "exploits" are and what aren't, and they tread the line very carefully. But they do, and they make life miserable for many players.

Wow.....

If EVE would fix these problems, then EVE would be better. A lot better.

Etrius

<pubDateParsed>2008-10-07T23:17:27</pubDateParsed>
GeneralEtrius on So I got banned from Eve.

and you did it again!

(see "so i got banned from EVE, again")

Oh, Stanly! Its fun especially with the corp I Join ASSAP/VTIL. I hate Beggars. I just tell them to shut up and leave and then block them. Eve is fun once you get into it and get some skills. Now there is faction wars now between empires. Also my corp has 8 or 10 contracts to kill off other corps so we are happy too. Also if you looking for a fight join us or just attack us or attack our alliance buddies cause so far everyone we fight gets owned.

<pubDateParsed>2008-10-07T23:17:27</pubDateParsed>
Hawawaa on So I got banned from Eve, again.

Well, I hope you did a better job of getting out of Detorid than I did.
