Actually (and surprisingly), no! Apparently the Microsoft licence doesn't extend to the CD - when you buy the package, you buy the licence, and the CD doesn't embody that licence; you could just ask MS for another CD and they'd give it to you (for a small cost to pay for handling, but most companies do that, no?).

One was some woman who used her full character allowance plus two full extra sections to describe why she suspects her husband was lying to her and how upset she was. Basically it came down to this. She went out, hubby had a wank and left the box of tissues by the computer. Then denied looking at porn when she went off on one at him. She was asking if she should take her newborn child and herself to live with her parents to get away from this.

My answer was that she was a bunny boiling lunatic who even if she did successfully choke ever last drop of masculinity from this poor guy he would only have a mid life crisis and an affair so maybe she ought to take a damn chill pill now.

0.0 is really different of low-sec or empire. There are strategic rules, like how you prepare your ship, if you have to be alone or not (alone = scoutship (cheap fregate) or coverops, no matter what), if you want to 1v1 and 1v1 vs what kind of ship, etc. It's hardcore-eve, there :/ Just prepare yourself for this and it would be funnier than low-sec or empire. Don't go in 0.0 just to mine alone, for exemple. You have to prepare your logistics, military escorts AND (most important) diplomatic/political problems with the locals.


2. The in-game society. Players who have power will stay on top. People who dont will stay at the bottom, and get their faces rubbed in the dirt by the powerful players. The corporations are also rather stupid. When you join, the corporation leader has total control over you. I don't understand why the corporations are like this. I also don't understand why EVE has to be like real life, but in space. Why can't the players just have fun and shoot stuff, rather than having to play the virtual stock market?

I was part of RSF until last week (Tau Ceti federation) and we made ourselves what we are now. Against BoB, which were the most powerfull military opponent in the game : you are simply not true !

3. CCP Games itself. Basically, they are a bunch of corrupt bastards who make life happy and miserable to whoever they damn well please. They affect the balance of power unfairly. For example, one of the CCP guys gave important blueprints of a whole new ship design to one corporation to help them stay in power. Well, another player revealed what that dev had done to the whole EVE universe, and CCP banned that player, not the dev, to cover it up. Also, the rules they make are really stupid. You can blow up what players have worked months for, but you can't call them names? Wow.....If EVE would fix these problems, then EVE would be better. A lot better.Etrius

CCP have a normal and direct dialogue with their players. This problem is more or less 2 years old. I was shoked atm but it's history now, don't you think ?

I find the escapism wonderful and the fact that it will have something new for me to tinker with for over a year is in my eyes a plus.

I can develop a really fascinating character with a life of its own and have it to enjoy whenever I wish. Granted the game is not for people who want instant gratification. For those people I would recommend they play something like command and conquer.

The only change I would make is to allow people to e able to ultimately command several ships simultaneously. An android fleet if you will.

Thank god for Sites like this where there is a line in the sand, and more important, where that line in the sand is enforced - cross it here and your Toast. For that alone, even ignoring the Classic Game they have produced in GalCiv, gets Brad and the Stardock Team a big Big thumbs up from me, and my loyalty as a consumer.

There is a growing unease, bordering on outright rebellion in some parts of the Web on this issue, on many sites. People have become sick and tired of out of control egos. Even so; I used to play Eve-online, got involved in beta, followed the retail into mining and exploration until just a year ago when I was finally forced to quit due to money. Now-a-days, I play online games with family members (EQ2, CoH) and I would love to return to Eve, but last I heard from another corp mate, the sector that I had parked my lovely battleship and carrier in is under BoB control now.. and the corp itself is largely destroyed *we had our primary and secondary operations in that sector... idiots didn't listen when I suggested we move secondary ops to another neutral sector.

So, if I do return, I may just delete the character (Ow.... there goes 1 Bil ISK) and just restart, though finding a good corp that doesn't suck up to BoB will be hard..

Well, mostly Zydor sums up what I think about on-line games in general...

The point is they promise you an immense universe to explore, fantastic scenarios to play, immersive environments...

...but when you start playing you find tons of people who show you how they did everything before you did, better than you will ever have time to do, reveal you all the secrets of the game even if you didn't ask them, sometimes try to give you money even if you didn't ask them (spoiling the pleasure to succeed in earning your very first coins), oh, and if you (by chance and with great effort) reach a special/secret area, you'll find there hundreds of people who are talking like "LOL/ROTLF/NOOB" and so on... and I could go on forever with other examples.

On-line games don't give you *really* the chance to roleplay, to be immersed in something or to discover anything, they just suck because of all the "dumb teens" (pardon me, not that I have something against kids playing) that play like they have to destroy and own everything in the game.

Good single player, off-line, games *can* give you all this. Nontheless its a pity that the on-line gaming of the good players out there is ruined by a minority of gremlins.

Ok, sorry, maybe I was too harsh, but I just wanted to have my point go through.

Swearing is generally a low grade way of getting your point across and while f-bombing can be fun and relieve stress, it's not widely accepted. It's entirely possible to communicate effectively and even verbally/psychologically abuse someone if so desired (like a beggar) without resorting to language that'll bring you grief.

I think about coming back sometimes, but the biggest draw for me is the massive fleet battles, which are also EVE's main downfall. Recently I heard from a guy that still plays that apparently GoonSwarm lost the invasion big time and is pretty much back in square 1 - which basically means Detorid should be crawling with BoB.

If I ever go back, that'll be fun to get out of...
