I really don't like ISK beggars.  (ISK is Eve's currency)  I especially don't like ISK beggars with an attitude of arrogance about how they deserve free ISK.  I let a certain ISK beggar know exactly how I felt about him.  Terms such as "fucking scumbag", and "lazy sack of shit" were liberally used.

Connection to the server has been lost.  Relogged... You have been banned until 7/12/08.  One solid month.  What really sealed the deal for me though, was the text explaining why...

"Failure to follow the orders of a GM."

Fucking egotistical nazi assholes.  Not even a warning after nearly a month of being on "good" behavior.  2 less subscriptions for them, but not like it will make any difference.  I just can't wrap my head around why some games GM staff feel they can just treat their customers like so much dogshit on the bottom of their shoe.  Reminds me of Turbine.

Oh well, Vanguard was only $4.24 on ebay, so I'll see how that goes.  Maybe SOE will like my subsription dollars and not care if I say a bad word now and then.

Well, I hope you did a better job of getting out of Detorid than I did. I logged off in the station system we were taking at the time and never logged back on.

Recently I heard from a guy that still plays that apparently GoonSwarm lost the invasion big time and is pretty much back in square 1 - which basically means Detorid should be crawling with BoB.

If I ever go back, that'll be fun to get out of...

im in the fat*something name, err or so i recall the system. Thats where i still have all my stuff.
If BoB have that area again... gosh... i bet it wont be easy to get all my stuff away.. bye bye 800-1000 mill isk
If i return again, ill be in the Battlestars corp again. Lots of nice people And DREDD with all hes good stories

You know.. talking about this stuff is baaad karma.. now i start thinking even more of joining again.. I even visited Battlestars forum to look

I am been in Eve for a few months now. Its fun especially with the corp I Join ASSAP/VTIL. I hate Beggars. I just tell them to shut up and leave and then block them. Eve is fun once you get into it and get some skills. Now there is faction wars now between empires. Also my corp has 8 or 10 contracts to kill off other corps so we are happy too. Also if you looking for a fight join us or just attack us or attack our alliance buddies cause so far everyone we fight gets owned.

I dunno about FAT, that's in Catch, though I doubt BoB would leave it alone unless IAC broke off from GS and sided with them.

I think about coming back sometimes, but the biggest draw for me is the massive fleet battles, which are also EVE's main downfall. Until they make the servers capable of handling even 200 players, I'm done losing battleship after battleship while still "loading"

I got banned from LOTRO for swearing in a GM ticket. I was highly irate at the moment and got verbally out of control. In retrospect (and even at the time) I knew I deserved it.

Swearing is generally a low grade way of getting your point across and while f-bombing can be fun and relieve stress, it's not widely accepted. It's entirely possible to communicate effectively and even verbally/psychologically abuse someone if so desired (like a beggar) without resorting to language that'll bring you grief.

Strictly speaking, I believe there is no such thing as foul language, only foul intentions. But practically speaking, those of us who enjoy very coarse words need to make sure we're amongst friends before we let them loose.

I'm actually pretty impressed to see Stardock tolerating the moderate swearing around here, yet I still feel obliged to keep my frakking fingers in line even when some mewling wanker drives me 'round the bend.

p.s. Is it sarcasm to throw some naughty Brit slang into a mostly-US forum? Bollocks, it was bloody fun, regardless.

Thanks to this discussion I'm now convinced I'm not goin' to try it ever.what convinced you not to try it? why not try a free 14day trial? To me its a game ill return to again and again.. not sure why, but its just very addictive for some unknown reason

Well, mostly Zydor sums up what I think about on-line games in general...

The point is they promise you an immense universe to explore, fantastic scenarios to play, immersive environments...

...but when you start playing you find tons of people who show you how they did everything before you did, better than you will ever have time to do, reveal you all the secrets of the game even if you didn't ask them, sometimes try to give you money even if you didn't ask them (spoiling the pleasure to succeed in earning your very first coins), oh, and if you (by chance and with great effort) reach a special/secret area, you'll find there hundreds of people who are talking like "LOL/ROTLF/NOOB" and so on... and I could go on forever with other examples.

On-line games don't give you *really* the chance to roleplay, to be immersed in something or to discover anything, they just suck because of all the "dumb teens" (pardon me, not that I have something against kids playing) that play like they have to destroy and own everything in the game.

Good single player, off-line, games *can* give you all this. Nontheless its a pity that the on-line gaming of the good players out there is ruined by a minority of gremlins.

Ok, sorry, maybe I was too harsh, but I just wanted to have my point go through.

BTW: I'm still playing Runescape from time to time, but I try to avoid all things I mentioned before, lol.

It's true in most games, but EVE actually has a fairly healthy population of strictly RP corps. Of course, you'd have to interact with non-RPers at some point, but at least you won't have it in your immediate surroundings.

One of the beauties of posting on one of Stardock's sister sites, JoeUser, is that pretty much any language (outside of personal threats) is tolerated.

You should've seen some of the insults bandied around those parts. Vivid.

If you want even more vitriol there is always the QT3 forums.

Not sure if Derek hangs around there still, but if you lucky you might run into him.

to the OP, its something called anger management... that isk begar was prbly just a new player anyway

well, i think i would have insulted the ISK buyer a bit, but considering the fact that you got banned twice... try seeing if either you have been cussing out alot or they stll hold a grudge to you.

People cuss on EVE online a lot. I don't get why CCP doesnt allow it at times. IF they want to make a game that is like a the real world in space, then they should allow cussing and insults.

then it would simply alienate alot of people. I started playing eve again, and i for sure didn't do it to hear some people who don't know how to speak in a proper way.

You don't see people on the street yelling bad language... well... not without consequences.

What happens between to people in a private chat i don't care about, but when it becomes public and if i feel offended by it (means also some times ive seen where people is obvious just joking around) i will report it, if i dont, someone else will.

But on some EVE corporation forums they allow you to say what ever you want, so there's more then enough room for people to speak how they prefer

Not all of your online game's are as bad or as lawless as Eve-online. EQ2 has a pretty good control over this, though then again it has a lower population (Eve has something around 20k pop... EQ2 barely has 5k)

Even so; I used to play Eve-online, got involved in beta, followed the retail into mining and exploration until just a year ago when I was finally forced to quit due to money. Now-a-days, I play online games with family members (EQ2, CoH) and I would love to return to Eve, but last I heard from another corp mate, the sector that I had parked my lovely battleship and carrier in is under BoB control now.. and the corp itself is largely destroyed *we had our primary and secondary operations in that sector... idiots didn't listen when I suggested we move secondary ops to another neutral sector.

So, if I do return, I may just delete the character (Ow.... there goes 1 Bil ISK) and just restart, though finding a good corp that doesn't suck up to BoB will be hard..

It is also the main reason why I'm very picky about online games in general now

The good thing about games such as eve and AoC PVP Enabled servers (and the old UO before carebears destroyed it... imagine, carebears destroying worlds ) is that,, if people annoy you, you have the option to kill them (aoc) or destroy them (eve)
